The practical manual titled “Fundamentals of Genetics” is specifically designed by Dr. Mamta Nehra (author) and Dr. Praveen Kumar (co-author) for B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture students to enhance their understanding of the foundational concepts in genetics. It covers essential topics such as the parts, types, and functioning of microscopes; the study of cell division through slide preparation of mitosis and meiosis; solving numerical problems related to monohybrid, dihybrid, test cross, and backcross; understanding various types of gene interactions with examples; working out probability-based genetic problems and Chi-square tests; and exploring key concepts such as sex linkage, crossing over, and the basic structure of DNA and RNA.
The manual offers a fresh, hand-on approach to learning genetics, specially designed for B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture students. Unlike traditional theory-heavy textbooks, this manual invite student to experience genetics through practical application.
This manual is perfect for:
Undergraduate students beginning their journey into genetics
Teachers and instructors seeking a reliable and ready to use lab manual
Competitive exam aspirants looking for a quick revision of practical aspects
