Renewable Energy: CONCEPTS, TECHNOLOGIES, AND APPLICATIONS Energy is a fundamental concept that underpins all physical processes and phenomena in the universe. Defined as the capacity to perform work or produce change, energy manifests in various forms and can be transformed from one type to another. Energy is essential for maintaining life, powering economies, and driving technological advancements, making it a critical component of modern civilization. The two broad categories of energy are potential energy, which is stored energy on the basis of an object's position, and kinetic energy, which is the energy of motion. This duality illustrates how energy can exist in a static form, ready to be transformed into kinetic energy when activated, effectively influencing and controlling natural and engineered systems.
